How to write abstracts for research work, and what are they for?

Abstracts – this is an application to your work. In my opinion, it is most convenient to write them immediately after writing the report of your speech. Although some prefer to write them in a different sequence. I will explain my choice. As soon as you have prepared your report (of course, an excellent report, in which you managed to emphasize all the advantages of your work), you can be sure: the information in your head is in the most concise and at the same time complete form. It’s time to write theses!

Well, what are they for? The best abstracts will be collected in a collection of works of winners, or simply a collection of the best abstracts. Your abstracts will help other people who read this collection to better do their work. Many will see the quality of the work you have done. It will finally be your personal success, which you can refer to; teachers and parents will be proud of you. That is why it makes sense to do it well.

The volume of theses, as a rule, is two pages. Write them after writing the report, since both your report and your scientific work were significantly more.

The format of the page is taken, as a rule, A4. The number of columns is different, for example, one or two columns with a width of 8.25 cm, the distance between the columns is 0.5 cm.

The parameters of the page are usually selected as follows: indents from the edge of the page: above and below – 2 cm; left and right – 2 cm. Font – Times New Roman, 10th or 12th n. Automatic word wrap. Each column is aligned to the width.

But for such points (columns, fonts, margins, etc.) you should consult with your supervisor. Section titles are in bold, sections are numbered. Line spacing – single. There is no indentation between sections. The structure of thesis statement must necessarily contain all sections:


Theoretical part.

Experimental setup (if any).

Measurement technique.


Error analysis.

The discussion of the results.



So, thesis statement for research paper is a compact in form and a short summary of the content of the main achievements of research work, a common form of information. Works of the best conferences are published in the form of theses with strict rules of registration. The accepted standard is one full sheet or two sheets, the first one containing names, positions, etc. You and your manager (sometimes you need photos of you and a manager, of a certain size). The second sheet – contains information on the merits of your work.
